Top 5 Spring Songs and Lessons!!

We are so excited to share our top 7 (Surprise! We had to throw in a couple of bonuses!) Spring Songs & Lesson ideas for kiddos.

1) Storm’s-A-Comin’

Our weather-themed song is a perfect tie-in to Spring. You could show this Youtube video and have students listen for the meter change, then move their bodies by stomping feet when they hear the 4/4 meter, and waving hands in the air when they hear a ¾ meter! I also love talking about feelings, weather and how they tie-in together…then add in a body percussion rainstorm! If you'd like the ready-made slides, lesson plans and printable, you can find them on our SEL Core online curriculum, along with hundreds of other resources.

2) Two Little Butterflies

This little rhyme about opposites is absolutely magical. It seems like no matter where I'm teaching, it instantly mesmerizes them. Especially Pre-K through 2nd!

3) Los Pollitos Dicen

This is one of my FAVORITE Spring songs. I usually read the Los Pollitos book, sing the song and then pass out egg shakers to jam out to Laurie Berkner's “I Know a Chicken”! It's so much fun!!

4) A Little Seed (Fingerplay Song)

This is another magical song that immediately engages kids. Pass out scarves and pretend that you're growing a flower! Kids absolutely love seeing the scarves transform right before their eyes :) This is a staple in my music classes, especially during the Spring months.

5) Each of Us is a Flower

This would be a great song to add to any lesson about Spring and adding scarves would be PERFECT!!! Especially paired with “A Little Seed” song :)

6) Vivaldi Spring Scarf Movement Song

Teaching about Vivaldi's Spring Concerto is a natural fit for Spring lessons. I usually show them a performance video first, then let them dance to this movement video with scarves!!

7) Got a Little Seed

“Got a Little Seed” is a fun scarf song I came up with to use in my music classes this year! It’s super fun to use in the Spring when talking about flowers, gardens, planting seeds, etc.

Some modifications-this song could be spoken as a rhyme if you don’t want to sing it. And you don’t have to use scarves with this song-you could just use your hands to bloom like a flower at the end :)
